“I am your father.”

For the moment:
Break You Off-The Roots
*2 things made me post this. 1 of it is because I saw David Fcbook status indicating that he’s digging it although I question how much of the song does he actually understand. What also surprise me is that it shows he’s been keeping in touch with the region he was once in only for a few months. In any case, I look forward to hearing him singing it on my next visit to Harvard (with proper attire and manners).
I met Imran about 7 years ago (I think) when he had just completed his National Service as a medical officer in the army. Nice chap.
The first thing that struck me is his natural singing voice. The only other singer (I know) that has this, is S.M. Salim. Meaning, their talking voice is their singing voice.
He, Imran, not Salim, is not a good friend of mine. I am no groupie either. Didn’t make the cut. I was told to reapply after a boob job and a sex op.
I remember him organizing gigs, writing many album reviews and interviewing other artistes for write ups. When I was still ‘doing music’, me and Imran were talking about doing this song together for a few shows. It didn’t pull through despite his only request to me was to cover his transport costs. A generosity I appreciated.
Besides having the opinion that this is a very nice song, and a very well done video, I have included it here because it’s nice (for me) to see that after many years of observing his efforts (and others), he made it to where he is today.
I hope you like it and all the best to you Imran.
